A Little About Us!
Welcome to our page! I am really excited that you have stopped by to learn more about our goats. When I first brought up the idea of having goats with my husband, I believe he thought that I was crazy. He agreed that we could have two goats, only for pets (ha ha!), thus began the process of finding a breed that I liked. I knew that I wanted a dwarf breed so I looked into the pygmy's, and then I learned about Nigerian's. I instantly fell in love with this breed, not only for their milking capabilities, but for their personalities. Yes, goats have personalities!!! We started out with a wether and a doeling. My second doeling was given to me as a mother's day gift from friends of ours who, also, are raising Nigerians. Our first goats were bottle fed but after learning the differences between the two we have decided that any kid born on our farm will be dam-raised by CAE free does until they leave the farm or turn 8-12 weeks old. We believe the natural way to raise kids is on their dam and we spend plenty of time with each of our kids to ensure that they are friendly.
The two most recent additions to our herd were dam raised and are just as friendly as our bottle raised does. We spend a large quantity of time and expense on our goats so that we can offer the very best, healthiest goats for you, our buyers, and for our herd as well.
When I first started out I wasn't that knowledgeable so I'm sure we made some beginners mistakes. My goal with raising these magnificent animals is that we try to appeal to a variety of people but still offer show quality animals with quality milk production. Our animals are treated with the utmost respect, which is what they deserve. All of our goats are registered with the ADGA and one is also registered with the AGS. Our farm is located in Canon City which is home to the Royal Gorge Bridge. We have three acres that we have plotted out which allows us have our own sires on the property. We have one sire now but will be acquiring another, hopefully, sometime this spring. Some of the other animals you may find on our farm are our chickens, along with our wonderful rooster named Hiccup along with our 2 dogs and 3 cats. Thank you for stopping by!! Please leave any comments, this will help us improve our site....
